Upon completing fermentation, only successful tanks/barrels (not all complete fermentation as required with wild yeast) are blended and the resulting wine is fabulously complex and aromatic, while still maintaining the mineral, almost salty, nature of the grape. It is big, ripe and impressively pungent with white pepper, salt and volcanic pumice. There is a seamless duo of intense acidity and a layered very austere structured grapefruit saline finish. Napa Valley is the reference for Cabernet Sauvignon in the New World. This mixed case contains two bottles of each of the following: Thread Count Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 Joe Wagner sourced this fruit from the valley floor to capture “the essential elegance of the region ... ripe blackberry with nicely inlaid vanillin, herbs, caper and gentle spice...” Score 92, David Lawrason Waterstone Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 Bordeaux-like presence, Dense, mouth-filling cherries, plums, chocolate and tobacco marry with the oak nuances. The firm tannins underlying the wine's core provide balance, leading to a long, lingering finish. Spottswoode Lyndenhurst Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 Deep garnet-purple in color, it offers soft spoken notes of dried lavender, wild blueberries, fresh black currants and kirsch plus hints of dried herbs, unsmoked cigars and spice cake. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has a solid structure of ripe, grainy tannins and plenty of freshness to support the muscular, beautifully retrained flavors, finishing on a lingering earthy note. 92 points, Lisa Perrotti-Brown, The WIne Advocate, Read Less

This mixed case is a great way to explore Italian, regional differences for this popular varietal. Featured here are exceptional examples from Veneto, Alto Adige and Friuli. A case contains four (4) bottles of each of the following Pinot Grigio’s: Luigi Righetti 2019 (Veneto DOC) Righetti’s shows good mid-palate weight and fruit concentration. The nose has floral aromas with overtones of pistachios and just a hint of honey. The palate is soft and round with a long, clean citrus finish. Starting in 2017, Pinot Grigio from Veneto has the option of being labeled as DOC, and Righetti chose to do so as a means of guaranteeing quality. Kupelwieser 2019 (Alto Adige DOC) From Italy’s northernmost, but highly acclaimed region of Alto Adige, one gets to experience the best of two worlds, with Mediterranean and Alpine climatic conditions coming into play. This wine shows crisp and refreshing Pinot Grigio handcrafted by award-winning winemaker Peter Zemmer. The grapes are sourced from vineyards on the valley floor of the ‘Lowlands’ of Alto Adige. Zemmer’s low-yield approach in the vineyards results in a complex white wine which reveals flavors of citrus and tree fruits with nuances of mineral, all showcased by a lengthy finish. Tunella 2018 (Colli Orientali del Fruili DOC) The wine has an intense straw yellow color, evolving to a richer yellow with aging. Spring wild-flower and honeydew-melon aromas come together in the glass. On the juicy rounded palate, tangy acidity accompanies Granny Smith apple and yellow pear before an almond close.
