Bodegas Forcada is located in La Rioja, specifically in Rincón de Olivedo. A privileged enclave with ideal conditions for the grapes to ripen perfectly, Bodegas Forcada is located within an area designated by UNESCO as a Biosphere Reserve. Grape cultivation is organic, with only manures used as fertilizer. Vineyards were planted by David Forcada’s grandfather in the early 20th Century, and many of these vines are still producing today. The landscape is rugged and barren and looks almost lunar. Although the vineyards are located in the Rioja Baja, the lower and hotter area of Rioja, the winery is unique in that it is located at a very high altitude (approximately 800 metres). This ensures slow ripening and a high variation in temperature from day to night, which builds acidity and complexity in his wines. Bodegas Forcada is a unique winery in a unique location.
