Tasting Notes

Cantine Rallo is located in Marsala, on the westernmost promontory of Sicily, and is a successful integration between nature, technology and tradition. Don Diego Rallo founded the firm in 1860, and the Vesco family took over operations in 1996. Today, Cantine Rallo has about 50 hectares of vineyards, all of which are in the DOC zone of Alcamo. Their wines are produced with grapes from the estate’s own vineyards.

Syrah “Clarissa” is a successful example of balanced wine with a gently spicy note. The colour is ruby red with violet nuances. It has an intense bouquet of mulberry and black pepper. The label plays with the ambiguity of the origin of the grape Syrah. Some claim it has Persian origin, others French, we think it has Sicilian origin! In the vineyards of Patti Piccolo, in Alcamo, stood a nunnery of poor but kind-hearted girls or “Clares”. The label depicts one of those Clares, strolling in our beautiful countryside and discovering the ripe, purple berries of Syrah.

Food Pairings

Grilled lamb or pasta with lamb ragu, BBQ meat, grilled vegetables, ratatouille, mushroom lasagna, hard or smoked cheeses such as Gouda.
