Tasting Notes

Flowers, cherries, black raspberries, espresso, and cocoa open the perfume. On the palate, the wine is equally interesting with its fresh sweet, red fruits, soft, supple-textured mid-palate and vibrant, cherry and cocoa oriented finish.

85% Merlot/15% Cabernet Franc

Food Pairings

Charcuterie, especially paté and terrines. Cold roast beef, simple grilled meat like a steak frites or sausage, haricot beans or lentils. Goat and sheep cheeses, mild brie and camembert

Third Party Reviews

The d’Arfeuille family of Château La Serre in St-Emilion also own this lovely Fronsac estate. Muscular yet chalky tannins on the attack, this is pretty intense with lots of rich black chocolate and blueberry, cassis fruits. Needs some time to soften up, has ambition and a sense of momentum.
– 91 Points Jane Anson (Decanter April 2021)

The 2020 Tessendey has a lovely, well-defined with blackberry and bilberry fruit, a light floral note surfacing with time. The palate is medium bodied with fleshy ripe black fruit, velvet in texture, with a seductive, caressing finish. Lovely.
– 91 points Neal Martin (Vinous December 2022)
