Septima
Bodegas Septima (Seven) is the seventh winery in the Codorniu family of wines. Located in Agrelo, Lujan de Cuyo, Mendoza. Septima has 100 hectares of vineyards situated at 1,100 metres above sea level. The vineyards are on mostly flat land, characterized by a shortage of water and a continental climate. The soil is alluvial, very deep, with limited organic matter and good permeability.
Given Septima’s proximity to the Andes Mountains to the west, much of the climatic conditions can be attributed to this mountain range. High elevation vineyards, cool and very clean mountain breezes, and adequate clean water for irrigation when required provide Septima and other Argentine producers in the region with one of the cleanest, purest growing zones in the world.
Grapes are harvested from estate owned vineyards. They follow a “no-till” policy, so the rows are maintained with a cover crop of grass and legumes supplying the soil with nutrients, to improve its structure, and to protect against damaging frosts.
