Starting in 1940, what was once merely a local Osteria was transforming into a larger operation, including the production of local wines. Through the 1960’s Gaetano Caldirola began experimenting with native Piemontese varietals (Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto, Moscato to name a few). Through the ‘70’s, 80’s and ‘90’s Nando Caldirola oversaw the family’s efforts to modernize production and open up export markets. It is the family’s production of exciting yet affordable sparkling wines that has garnered our attention.

Nua is the family’s most important sparkling wine brand, and one of the largest producers of Prosecco DOCG. Their range of sparkling wines includes various other spumante cuvees in addition to Prosecco, including Lambrusco and sparkling Erbaluce. The Nua Brut is a special bottling only for Ontario.
