Tasting Notes

We recently discovered the small production estate Domaine Font de Courtedune, and just in time! The estate has been getting very strong international reviews, and we are allocated just two small allotments of this 2020 vintage. It is a wonderful expression of Grenache and the appellation as a whole.

The backbone of this wine is derived from some very old, low yielding vines – many of which are 90+ years of age. The result in 2020 is a wonderfully vibrant wine, which has gorgeous clarity of fresh raspberry and floral, red cherry fruit. This is a full bodied, velvety mouthful, having excellent mid-palate power and a finish that is long, ripe and full of finesse (for drinking 2022-2030+).

Food Pairings

Duck Confit, Garlic Sausages with White Beans, Leg of Lamb, Époisses or St Marcelin Cheese

Third Party Reviews

I loved the 2020 Châteauneuf Du Pape, a pretty, nicely balanced, elegant 2020 offering lots of red and black fruits as well as some floral, rose, and garrigue-like nuances. With fine tannins, a supple, layered mouthfeel, and outstanding length, it’s well worth seeking out. The blend is almost all Grenache, brought up all in concrete tanks. 91 Pts. JEB DUNNUCK
