Codorniu

The Codorniu winery dates back to 1551 and has become recognized for producing some of Spain’s finest wines. The Heiress of Codorniu, Anna, married winemaker Miquel Raventos in 1659, but maintained her surname and became the matriarch. In 1872 Josep Raventos focused on sparkling wine produced authentically- “Methode Traditionelle” – and thus began the story of Cava!

This winery has extensive vineyard properties, both in the Penedes region and in areas inside D.O. Cava, that allow it to control the quality and consistency of grapes. Its vineyards are meticulously cared for through sustainable viticultural practices that optimize resources and minimize the impact of inorganic products. Codorniu harvests grapes in the “chateau” concept, ensuring fruit will be pressed immediately following picking.
