Te Mania
Te Mãnia (Maori for “The Plains”) is a small, family run business established by Jon and Cheryl Harrey, in 1990 near the beautiful coastline of Tasman Bay in Nelson. Nelson is at the top of the South Island of New Zealand.
The vineyards are located on free draining stony clay loam soils which have proved excellent for producing wine grapes of exceptional quality. Nelson experiences a cool, Maritime climate with high sunshine hours producing grapes of high quality. In fact, Nelson has the most sunshine hours of all New Zealand growing regions.
The vines on average are cropped at a yield of between 3 and 5 tonnes to produce fruit with excellent flavours. The flavours are further enhanced by the long, slow, ripening period which commences in early February and carries through to harvest time – typically from early April through to early May.
Te Mãnia practices organic farming, and their wines are also suitable for those following a Vegan diet.
