Tasting Notes
Alpha is a Rosso di Toscana produced from younger vines between 8 and 20 years of age. It is Fabio Chiarelotto’s newest creation, and once again goes in a direction unlike many other Rosso di Toscana wines from the Etruscan Coast.
The vines for Alpha are planted in soils of silex and fossilized clay and managed using organic principles. The blend of Sangiovese (55%), Cabernet Sauvignon (35%), and Malvasia Nero (10%) is fermented in French oak and aged an additional 8 months in casks of varying sizes, prior to bottling. The result is a substantial yet approachable wine at 14% alcohol with a terrific balance of fruit, oak aging and acidity. Dark in the glass, showcasing aromas and flavours of rich, black fruit, subtle oak and a slightly spicy note. The wine ends with a lingering silky finish.
