    The new Alexander Zahel Grüner Veltliner Alte Reben (Old Vines) comes from Retzer Land, a small designated area about 1 hour north of Vienna in the Niederösterreich growing area (aka Lower Austria which is located in the northeastern area of Austria). The soil in this area is mix of sandstone and granite with limestone topsoil perfect for developing a unique mineral character in the resulting wines. Biodynamic Grüner Veltliner was hand harvested from 45-year-old vines at the end of August to maintain a crisp acidity. Whole bunch pressing and spontaneous fermentation in 1200 ltr. Stockinger barrels (more on that below!) and 6 months on the fine lees. The wine received minimal sulfuring and no filtration or fining before bottling. Certified Bio, Demeter Certified and Regenerative Organic Certified. What more could you ask for?

    The Cartagena Sauvignon Blanc is produced with grapes that come from the highest vineyard plots, with direct exposure to the Pacific Ocean. The harvest was carried out the first week of April. The blend of 85% Sauvignon Blanc and 15% Sauvignon Gris was fermented separately in stainless steel and then blended before being bottled. On the nose it presents intense saline aromas, perfume of grapefruit and ripe citrus. It is complemented by tones of fresh herbs, asparagus and green mango. The clear acidity and the salinity of the Pacific Ocean are combined in this complex and balanced wine.

L’Etoile is a very small Appellation within the Jura region, so named because the area encompasses 5 hilltop villages arrayed in the shape of a star. In addition, the limestone rich soils contain marine fossils of tiny pentracines (star fish). Aged for 18 months in oak barrels (70% new), it displays a deep golden hue in the glass. On the nose the wine exhibits intense aromas of baked golden apple and ripe pear with notes of spice, honey, hazelnuts and vanilla. A subtle oxidative note characteristic of Jura white wines leads to a mineral driven, rich, creamy and full-bodied finish.
