Tasting Notes

In the middle of summer, whether preparing a meal for the evening, or sitting in a chair in the backyard or on the dock, often the best wine is a crisp, clean, simple one which is above all, refreshing. Below we present a white, a rosé and some bubbles to fill this need.

This mixed case consists of 4 bottles of each of the 3 wines. Order this week for delivery next week.

White: Terre Gaie Pinot Grigio 2019:
Terre Gaie is a family run winery located in the Colli Euganei hills of the Veneto, which are a group of hills of volcanic origin, SW of Padua.

Matured in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks, this Pinot Grigio is light, dry and refreshing, with fine delicate acacia flower, citrus and nutty aromas. The palate follows through with fresh citrus and green apple notes.

Rosé: Domaine Comptoir des Grenaches Jardin d’Eté Rose 2020
This beautiful pale-pink color blend of Grenache and Cinsault is a refreshing and well-balanced South of France rosé, produced in the style one would find in Provence. It offers a gorgeous mélange of upfront citrus, bright spring flowers and strawberry aromas that are framed by hints of crisp mouthwatering saline notes, finishing snappy and fresh.

Traditional winemaking process in stainless steel vessels with careful temperature control to protect the natural fruit flavors, typical of both varieties. This Rose is achieved using the direct pressing method.

Bubbles: Nua Brut – Vino Spumante
The Nua Brut is from one of Italy’s top Prosecco producers. Although it is not classified as Prosecco DOC it remains a refreshing blend of Glera (the Prosecco grape) with the added touch of Pinot Noir. The result, we think, is a lot better as the Pinot Noir adds red fruit notes.

This dry, light sparkler shows vibrant red apples, ripe citrus, honey and hazelnuts with a hint of toasty brioche. The bubbles are persistent and mouth filling and the wine finishes clean. A great bubbly at a fantastic price.
