Tasting Notes
Pinot Noir has long been a passion of Alex Zahel´s — his enthusiasm shows in this crisp, fruit forward expression of the varietal. The wine is produced from French clones (115,114) from Burgundy, planted in the prime single vineyard Sätzen, located in the city’s southwestern corner. Here, you’ll find a soil structure composed and sandstone in the top layers, with pure limestone below. After biodynamic cultivation and hand harvest, the juice is allowed to ferment spontaneously in 225l French (Chassin) and Austrian (Stockinger) oak barrels. After about two weeks in barrel, the wine is moved to large stainless steel tanks where it remains for another 8 months before bottling. Served well chilled.
