Tasting Notes
Pinot Noir has long been a passion of Alex Zahel´s — his enthusiasm shows in this crisp, fruit forward expression of the varietal. The wine shows intense berry fruit of raspberries and strawberries with a stimulating, drinkable finish. Served well chilled.
The wine is produced from Burgundy clones (115,114), planted in the prime vineyard Sätzen, located in Vienna’s SW corner. Soil structure is comprised of sandstone in the top layers, with pure limestone below. After Biodynamic cultivation and hand harvest, the juice ferments spontaneously in used 225l French (Chassin) and Austrian (Stockinger) oak barrels. After 2 weeks in barrel, the wine matures for 5 months in large stainless steel tanks, prior to bottling.
Food Pairings
Pairs well with light summer pastas and seafood or served as an aperitif.
