Tasting Notes

When we tasted Terranoble’s new “Las Dichas” Gran Reserva wines in our office, we knew right away that we had found something special. Chile really is a great place to look for high quality wines at reasonable prices and this duo of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay is testament to those achievements.

Grapes for both wines were grown in Terranoble’s El Algarrobo vineyard located in the Las Dichas (The Bliss) area of the Casablanca Valley near the Pacific coast of Central Chile. It stands out as one of the coolest areas of the Casablanca Valley and is ideally suited to growing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The cool environment influenced by sea breezes and fog favour the development of fruity aromas in the wines and in preserving their natural acidity.

The wines were matured in a combination of concrete eggs, untoasted foudres and used 300 L barrels.

2019 Chardonnay “Las Dichas” Gran Reserva :
The colour is an intense golden yellow with slight greenish hues. Aromas are elegant and penetrating with notes of papaya, pineapple, ripe peach and citrus fruit. On the palate, the wine is creamy, refreshing and fruity while displaying a vibrant and persistent acidity. It would pair well with soft cheeses, roasted chicken, lobster with drawn butter or a pasta with a cream or butter based sauce.

2018 Pinot Noir “Las Dichas” Gran Reserva :
A bright ruby red in the glass, the bouquet displays exceptional varietal typicity. Fresh and fruity aromas of sour cherries and strawberries mingle with notes of thyme and wild herbs. The palate mirrors the bouquet. Delicate, fruity and with a intense and vibrant acidity in balance with the fine grained tannins. This wine would make a great match with oven roasted salmon, seared duck breast, Chinese food or with a bloomy rind cheese like Camembert or Brie.
