Tasting Notes
Agiorgitiko (pronounced Ah-yor-YEE-te-ko) is a fragrant red wine grape native to Greece’s Peloponnese peninsula. The vineyards located near Koutsi are known for their chalky soils and good drainage. The cool temperatures, ideal sun exposure and steep inclination combine to produce lower yields than other parts of Nemea, but with excellent concentration of flavour.
Gaia Agiorgitiko is a spicy, ripe, oak aged wine, made from this fascinating indigenous grape. The wine is dark red-violet in colour, with an intense and persistent fruity flavour and aromatic finesse that evolves between gooseberry, butter caramel and a discreet fragrance of wood. Soft tannins that underline a relatively rich, well structured, velvety body.
The wine was aged in 2nd use French oak casks for 12 months.
Food Pairings
Great with roast lamb, roast vegetables and rich, spicy meat dishes.
