Tasting Notes
Chateau Moulin Delille is located at Leyssac in the heart of the St Estephe wine appellation. The estate comprises some 24 hectares of vineyard on clay / gravelly soils and is owned by the fifth generation of the Ollier family. It is currently owned and managed by Christian Ollier and his daughter Coralie.
The flagship wine of the estate is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Merlot, handpicked and sourced from vines with an average age of 35 years. It undergoes a traditional fermentation in concrete and then aging in a mix of first and second use barrels for 18 months. Just 13,000 bottles produced.
The nose is spicy with blackberry, blueberry, plum and sandalwood aromas. The palate is powerful with a round mouth feel and ripe black fruit, supported by plenty of tannins typical of Saint Estephe, however they are beautifully ripe and not at all astringent. There is a long toasty finish. (14% alc)
