Malbec

Malbec is originally from Cahors, in South West France, but it is more widely associated with Argentina where it produces full bodied, deeply coloured wines that display juicy black fruit (blackberry, plum and black cherry) aromas sometimes enhanced with gentle lashings of oak. The best Argentinian Malbecs come from high altitude vineyards in Mendoza, either Luján de Cuyo and the Uco Valley. Here the vines receive clean, cool water from the Andes and benefit from high diurnal temperature variation, which builds complexity in the wines.
