Since 1979, Randy Dunn and his family have been crafting some of the most highly regarded and age worthy Cabernet Sauvignon wines made in California. Today, we are proud to offer a limited number of mixed cases of Dunn Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon from the highly acclaimed 2019 vintage.

This year was of particular significance to the Dunn family as their legendary Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon was selected #6 on the Wine Spectator Top 100 for 2023.

Dunn Vineyards Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 (#6 on Wine Spectator Top 100)

The signature wine of Dunn is produced exclusively with fruit harvested from their estate vineyards on Howell Mountain. Always 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and aged 100% in new French oak barrels for 32 months.
“Lushly fruited, this sends waves of crushed plum, boysenberry compote and blackberry paste out from the core, with a strong undercurrent of cast iron and smoldering tobacco to boot. Grippy and dense, but with a sense of polish and a note of purity in the guise of a pretty violet echo. Best from 2025 through 2040.” – 96 Points James Molesworth (Wine Spectator)

“The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is outrageously beautiful. A wine of extraordinary purity, the 2019 dazzles right out of the gate. The tannins are nearly silky for a young Howell Mountain Cabernet. Red/purplish fruit, lavender, spice, rose petal and pomegranate all build in the sumptuous, explosive Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2019 is one of the most elegant Cabernets I have tasted here and that is saying something. What a wine!” – 98 Points Antonio Galloni (Vinous, October 2022)

Dunn Vineyards Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

The Napa Valley Cabernet is a blend of estate fruit from Howell Mountain with a small quantity of purchased grapes from the Valley floor. This (sometimes!) makes the Napa bottling more approachable for near term consumption. Like the Howell, this is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in 100% new French oak barrels.

“Ripe and polished, with a friendly beam of warmed cassis and plum sauce flavors flanked by singed vanilla and apple wood. Reveals a tug of tobacco on the finish. Leans to toasty in the end, but is solidly built nevertheless. Drink now through 2034.” – 91 Points James Molesworth (Wine Spectator)

“The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is a powerful and tannic wine. In some vintages, the Napa Valley bottling is quite accessible, but not here. Swarths of tannins wrap around a core of dark fruit, gravel, spice, dried flowers, lavender and charred earth are pushed forward, with firm, chocolatey tannins that wrap it all together. This brooding Cabernet needs at least a few years to settle. The 2019 is a bruiser, that is for sure!” – 93+ Points Antonio Galloni (Vinous October 2022)
