~ 3 Sauvignon Blanc 2022
~ 3 Pinot Noir 2019
Casa Marin “Cartagena” Sauvignon Blanc 2022 :
The low-yielding vineyards of Lo Abarca produce grapes with great flavor and mineral concentration. Located only 4 kilometers from the Pacific Ocean, the cool sea breezes give the wine a distinct maritime character. These growing conditions have made Sauvignon Blanc somewhat of a Casa Marin house speciality. Felipe Marin head winemaker explains the goal for his wines -“I want elegance, balance and length on the palate, minerality and saltiness”.
The 2022 Cartagena Sauvignon Blanc is intensely aromatic with notes of key lime, green herbs, gooseberry and jalapeno. The fresh acidity and salinity of the Pacific Ocean brings balance and complexity to the rich mouthfeel and long, lingering finish. A beautiful wine to pair with goat cheese, a summer herb salad or grilled lake fish. 13.5% alc.
Casa Marin “Cartagena” Pinot Noir 2019 :
Composed in a fresh and fruity style with no oak influence, the vines are planted in clay soils and are hand harvested about 2 weeks before their other parcels of Pinot Noir to emphasize the vibrant nature of the wine. This wine is all about bright fruit character with a bouquet that recalls the fragrance of ripe strawberries, red cherries, cranberries and spicy hints of cinnamon and pepper. The palate is medium bodied with abundant red fruit flavours supported by bright acidity and an earthy finish. While delicious now, its structure will allow for further development in the bottle with mid-term cellaring. 14% alc.
Third Party Reviews
“The 2019 Pinot Noir Cartagena from Lo Abarca, San Antonio, is a ruby red in colour with aromas of spice, damp earth and whiff of blood, while in the mouth, it is smooth and silky, displaying mild tension and medium depth. An austere but satisfying wine.”
– 91 Points Joaquin Hidalgo (Vinous June 2022)
