Tasting Notes

This mixed case brings together a trio of tasty Bordeaux appellations: Lussac-Saint-Émilion 2020, Fronsac 2020, and Lalande de Pomerol 2019.

$207.00 / 6 btl cs (Avg. $34.50/btl., 2 bottles of each)

Château du Courlat – Lussac-Saint-Émilion 2020:
This wine is a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc and is matured in a combination of 35% stainless steel, 35% concrete vats and 30% first and second use French oak barrels. Expect a dark purple wine with open and forward aromas of sweet plum, red berries and a hint of vanilla. The wine is plush and round in the mouth with lingering black cherry, cassis, dark chocolate and cedar notes. It will continue to develop in the bottle over the next decade. Soils are silt and clay.

Château Tessendey – Fronsac 2020:
The Tessendey Fronsac is obtained from an 8 Hectare plot with soils composed of limestone and clay. The average age of vines is 30 years. After harvest and sorting, the Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes are macerated and fermented in traditional concrete tanks and then transferred to French oak barrels to age for 15 months (1/3 new barrels). Soils are limestone and clay.

“The 2020 Tessendey has a lovely, well-defined with blackberry and bilberry fruit, a light floral note surfacing with time. The palate is medium bodied with fleshy ripe black fruit, velvet in texture, with a seductive, caressing finish. Lovely. – 91 points Neal Martin (Vinous December 2022)

Château le Vieux Ormes – Lalande de Pomerol 2019:
Produced from vineyards that average 35 to 40 years, this wine is Merlot dominant with small percentages of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. It is matured in stainless steel to maintain the full, fresh character of the fruit. The bouquet is rich with dark plum fruit and notes of blackberry, raspberry and exotic spices. Complex and inviting on the palate it shows soft and supple tannins with long, pleasant finish.
