Tasting Notes
Founded in 1925 the Château Beauvillage is located a short distance from the left bank of the Gironde River. The estate’s 24 hectares of vineyards are spread around the small villages of Couquèques, Saint-Christoly de Médoc and Civrac. Here the predominantly clay-limestone and gravel soils and moderate climate provide the perfect conditions for a long growing season resulting in grapes of peak ripeness.
Produced from a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon harvested from vineyards averaging 35 years. Grapes are rigorously sorted prior to entering the cellar where they undergo a 3-day cold pre-maceration with the skins. Fermentation of the separate varieties takes place over 28 days after which the wine spends 12 months in medium-toast French oak barrels.
A wonderful dry and savoury offering from a Cru Bourgeois estate. Classic left bank Bordeaux showing a deep dark purple colour, the bouquet reveals intense blackberry, coffee, chocolate, cedar and spice notes. Smooth and dense on the palate it finishes with nice structure and a smoky intensity.
