Marcel Cabelier

Marcel Cabelier is part of Maison du Vigneron. The Maison du Vigneron is the the N° 1 Producer of Jura Wines and Crémants, acting as a negociant in what is a very small production and hard to source from region of France, While the winery has no vineyards of its own, it hand-selects the farmers with which it works and supports their viticulture efforts to ensure that the grapes delivered are of the utmost quality. They produce the full stable of wines from the region: white wines and red wines, Vin Jaune and Vin de Paille, Jura Crémants and Macvin liqueurs, all lie maturing under our watchful gaze within barrels in their storerooms.

Their production includes AOP Arbois; AOP Château Chalon; AOP L’Etoile; AOP Côtes du Jura; AOP Macvin du Jural; and, AOP Crémant du Jura. In addition to the AOP wines, the Maison du Vigneron is also specializes in Vin Jaune and Vin de Paille, or raisin wine (both also AOP-certified).

Since it was first founded, the Maison du Vigneron has cultivated a partnership among 100 different grape-growing vineyards, which work in close collaboration with wine-growing experts following meticulously recorded specifications and checks.

    Marcel Cabelier L’Etoile Chardonnay 2023

As seen this weekend at the 2025 i4C conference in Niagara. L’Etoile is a very small Appellation within the Jura region, so named because the area encompasses 5 hilltop villages arrayed in the shape of a star. In addition, the limestone rich soils contain marine fossils of tiny pentracines (star fish). Aged for 18 months in oak barrels (70% new), it displays a deep golden hue in the glass. On the nose the wine exhibits intense aromas of baked golden apple and ripe pear with notes of spice, honey, hazelnuts and vanilla. A subtle oxidative note characteristic of Jura white wines leads to a mineral driven, rich, creamy and full-bodied finish.

Marcel Cabelier Vieilles Vignes Pinot noir 2023

On feature at this years’ 2025 i4C conference in Niagara. The VV cuvée is created from fruit harvest from some of the regions oldest vines. A deep ruby colour, the bouquet reminds one of ripe cherries and strawberry jam complimented by exotic Asian spice and a distinct earthy note. On the palate, the firm yet silky tannins are velvety in the mouth and lead to a lingering finish of red fruits. This represents excellent value in a complex old world Pinot Noir. .
