Tasting Notes
Emblema is a rebranding of the Septima’s classic Malbec (and others), noting that this line of wines is emblematic of the classic varietals grown in Mendoza. This line of wines are clean, young, pure, and straightforward wines and a good expressions of Mendoza’s terroir.
Located in the famous Argentine region of Mendoza, the Septima Malbec is produced from hand-picked grapes. It is matured mainly in stainless steel tanks with about 15% of the volume aged in French and American oak barrels. In the glass, the wine is a clean, bright red with purple streaks.
The bouquet evokes an abundance of fruits such as plum and cherry. There are also notes of dried fig and violets. The tannins are soft and rounded on the palate with a nice, fruity finish. Argentina has a lot of Italian immigrants, so the wine is quite at home with the Italian cuisine.
Food Pairings
Good for all manner of food from red meats, particularly game, to Eggplant Parmigiana, Ortolana Pizza or Gnocchi Pomodoro.
