The Story of Raimat (over 100 years in the making) is one very much rooted in the land from which the wines are derived today…but is also unique as it highlights the estate’s innovative vision. The initial dream was to turn a barren desert into a sea of vines. It started in 1910, when a regional irrigation canal was built in the Segrià region of northeastern Spain. Just four years later, Manuel Raventós (part of what is now Codorniu) bought a massive 3,200 hectares of barren lands in Lleida Province. After digging over 100KM of channels to connect to this new canal, Raventos and company transformed a once stony wasteland into arable land.

Raimat’s extensive vineyards now constitute a single area within the appellation “Costers del Segre” (est.1986). The numerous vineyards all share a marked, continental climate characterized by temperature extremes – cold winters and hot summers.

What we are offering in this mixed case is 4 bottles of three different wines:

Albariño “Saira” 2019 : Cultivated across a number of Albariño vineyards managed and fermented separately to maximize ripeness, texture and complexity. The coldest plot is fermented at a low temperature to obtain the citrus component. The creaminess is achieved from fermentation on its lees and daily stirring. The vanilla and woody notes come from fermentation in barrels. To achieve even greater complexity, a small percentage of Albariño are aged for over 10 months in barrels.

The wine is pale yellow in color with greenish hues. Intense aromas of citrus, dried flowers and spices with an additional hint of sweet vanilla.

Rosada 2020 : Mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with some Tempranillo. The grapes are purposely harvested at night, when temperatures are cooler to reduce the risk of oxidation. The grapes are destemmed and further cooled in tank. The juice used for this wine is strictly free run juice, prior to pressing. This serves to produce the freshest possible Rosada, with limited phenolic extraction.
Bright pale pink leaning towards an onion skin colour. Supple aromas with elegant notes of strawberry, plus notes of grapefruit with a touch of aniseed. In the mouth the wine shows ripe, dry, red berry fruit – strawberry and raspberry.

Clamor Tinto 2018 : Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, Syrah & Merlot. .This tinto is a deep, bright picota cherry red wine with purplish hues. Aromas of red and black fruit (particularly cherries and raspberries) against a backdrop of violets. In the mouth, dark forest berries appear – particularly black currants and blackberries. There are also notes of dark chocolate. The wine has a silky texture and a long elegant finish. Mild, sweet tannins, the result of good ripening, combine with a freshness that makes this wine easy to enjoy.
