Insolia

Inzolia (or Ansonica) is an Italian grape variety grown in both Sicily and Tuscany. While it is most famous traditionally as an ingredient in the fortified Marsala wines, it is now seen more and more as a crisp, dry white wine, in blends and as a single variety

Inzolia wines are moderately aromatic, and tend to display lemon and almond characteristics with grassy or herbal notes. They can also, when grown at low yields, display a minerality or salty dimension.

  • Cantine Rallo Bianca di Evro 2022

The Evrò name pays homage to the Queen Bianca of Navarra (The White Queen) who was the queen consort of the King of Sicily during the reign of William I (1154-1166) and regent during the minority of her son William II. Her history is intertwined with the castle of Alcamo portrayed on the label. The blue colour of the label is meant to evoke not only the freshness of the wine, but also the “blue blood” of the queen. The platinum capsule surrounds the head of the bottle like a precious crown. Produced from 100% Insolia grapes that are organically grown in their estate vineyards around the territory of Alcamo. The wine is matured in temperature controlled stainless steel vessels in order to maintain freshness and acidity. A straw yellow colour in the glass, expect a dry white wine that displays a bouquet of apricot, pear, apple and citrus fruit with hints of beeswax and white flowers. Rich and full in the mouth with great texture and a salted honey finish.
