Raventos d Alella

The winery is nestled amongst old vineyards and forests of the interior of the coastal mountain range that divides the Alella Designation of Origin region. Located just 15km from Barcelona, the region’s main challenge is to maintain land holdings in a region threatened by Barcelona’s urban expansion.

Founded in 1981 and purchased thereafter by Codorniu Group, the estate is primarily focused on the cultivation of a clone of the Xarello varietal, locally known as Pansa Blanca. This clone is particular to this very small D.O., where it finds a home in the “Saulo” soils, a product of erosion of the white granite of these local foothills.
