Veuve Olivier et Fils
Founded in 1922 by Edmond Olivier, the estate grew under his daughter Liliane and grandson Pierre, who in 1955 created the Veuve Olivier et Fils label. Today, Pierre’s daughter Sandrine Charpentier-Olivier leads the 4th generation, maintaining the tradition of estate-grown Champagne while extending its reach internationally.
The domain farms 18 hectares across 21 plots around Trélou-sur-Marne, with a focus on Pinot Meunier, supported by Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Each parcel is vinified separately, using slow pressing on a traditional Coquard press, allowing clear expression of the valley’s diverse terroirs.
As a certified RM estate, Veuve Olivier et Fils bottles only wines from its own vineyards, produced entirely on site. This ensures authenticity, transparency, and a direct expression of family terroir—an approach distinct from large Champagne houses.
The house style emphasizes fruit purity, freshness, and supple texture—a true reflection of the Marne Valley and of an independent family that has cultivated the same land for four generations. For buyers, Veuve Olivier et Fils represents the precision and personality of grower Champagne.
The Marne Valley is Meunier’s stronghold. It thrives here, giving Champagnes with ripe fruit, roundness, and approachability. The soil is a mosaic of clay, marl, and chalk overlay providing drainage yet retaining moisture, suiting Meunier’s resilience. The Marne River has significant influence. South-facing slopes along the river benefit from direct and reflected sunlight while river mists and cooler nights preserve acidity.
