Tasting Notes

Primarily Garnatxa Tinta (60%), with smaller amounts of Cariñena (20%), Cabernet Sauvignon (10%), and Syrah (10%)
This wine is a wonderful expression of Scala Dei’s small Priorat plots: a variety of vineyards, varietals, altitudes and soils. All the subtlety of the Garnatxa and the deep minerality of the slate soils in a structured wine with fullness of aromas.
Deep, intense, ruby red with garnet and bluish hues on the rim. Intense lingering aromas of red and black fruit, wild strawberries, blackberries, violet floral nuances underlain with supple spiciness and toasty notes.
This wine is medium- to full-bodied, showing great polish and finesse, and a silky mouth-feel with ripe, elegant tannins. The overall impression is enhanced by the mineral aromas which derive from the soil (locally known as licorella), a blend of weathered slate and quartz.
