Codorniu, Limited Edition Rosé Cava Brut N/V (Penedes, Spain) :
This special Cava bottling from Codorniu is in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the artistic movement of Catalan Modernism (1920-2020). The label was inspired by art from the period.
A traditional blend of Garnacha (50%), Pinot Noir (25%) and Trapat (25%), the wine is aged on the lees for 9 months. An intense, pink colour with fine and delicate bubbles leads to aromas of cherry, strawberry and raspberry jam complimented by brioche and citrus undertones. The full and ample mousse fills the whole palate with red fruit leading to an elegant and long finish. A perfect beginning to your Valentine’s Day celebration. (9 gr/l RS and 11.5% Alc.)
Domaine Lapalus, Mâcon “Milly – Lamartine” 2022 (Burgundy, France) :
Domaine Lapalus is a small 17-hectare family run vineyard that has been passed down from generation to generation. They focus on strong environmental practices (certified HVE or High Environmental Value since 2015). Their parcel of 5 hectares in the Mâcon Milly-Lamartine Village appellation is carefully harvested and vinified in stainless steel with an extended period of aging on the fine lees. The goal is to create a wine that is fresh, floral and aromatic and is easy to enjoy.
The 2022 Mâcon Milly-Lamartine has a complex bouquet of white flowers, honeysuckle and pineapple aromas jumping out of the glass. The palate is marked by a distinct floral and spicy note accompanied by a rich and full mouthfeel and a long and flavourful finish. Excellent with first courses of seafood in a rich cream sauce or pairs well with a main course of roast chicken. (0.42 gr/l RS, 13% Alc.)
Luigi Righetti, Ripasso Selezione 2021 (Veneto, Italy):
This is Righetti’s premium bottling of Ripasso, now sporting a more modern label. It represents a selection of the best grapes available from the vintage. After the grapes are dried for approximately 4 months (appassimento) and pressed for the Amarone, young Valpolicella wine is poured over the skins to macerate for 14 days. This process allows for the development of deeper and more complex aromas and flavours. The wine is then aged for 12 months in small oak barrels.
The 2021 Ripasso Selezione is a dark purple/ruby wine that displays a bouquet of black cherry and raspberry with hints of leather, baking spices and autumn leaves. The palette is rich and rounded with intense dried fruit and dark chocolate notes appearing on the long and silky finish. Pairs well with seared duck breast with cherry sauce or a traditional lasagna. (5.5 gr/l RS, 14% alc.)
