Mixed Case – Sauvignon Blanc Showdown
$263.40 case of 12 bottles (Avg. $21.95 a bottle)

Our Sauvignon Showdown case includes 4 wines from 2 countries renowned for producing great Sauvignon Blanc. First up, France the ancestral home of the variety and a place that produces a wide range of Sauvignon styles from many different terroirs. The contender in this case is Chile. An upstart region for Sauvignon where cool high-altitude vineyards and brisk Pacific breezes provide an ideal environment for Sauvignon. As an interesting point of comparison, all four wines are grown in different soil types. Taste them side by side and decide who is your champion!

Robert Vic, Mas de la Source Sauvignon Blanc 2020, Languedoc, France

The name “La Source” (the stream in French) and the image of a river fish on the label point to the esthetic and ecological practices of the estate. La Source Sauvignon comes from vineyards planted on volcanic soils adding minerality and complexity to the wine. In addition, the warmer Languedoc climate gives this wine a softer expression of Sauvignon Blanc; not so pungent and grassy as those found in cooler appellations.

Domaine de Villargeau Côteaux du Giennois 2020, Loire Valley, France

Côteaux du Giennois is located just down the Loire River from Sancerre and produces similarly styled wines at exceptional prices. Soils here are predominantly flint and limestone. Pale yellow with silvery green highlights, the nose elicits notes of candied apricots and citrus. In the mouth, spicy vanilla character reinforces the aromatic profile. The wine finishes with a hint of grapefruit and a certain mineral freshness.

Casa Marin Cartagena Sauvignon Blanc 2021, Lo
Abarca, Chile

Produced from Casa Marin’s highest altitude vineyards with a direct exposure to the Pacific Ocean. Soils in this area are loam (a mixture of clay, sand and limestone). Temperatures do not vary too much between day and night, which naturally controls yields. Pale straw in colour. The bouquet is bright, fresh and lifted with distinctive melon, kiwi and grassy notes. Clean and beautifully structured with hints of lime, honey and fine balanced acidity.

Terranoble Sauvignon Blanc Reserva 2022, Casablanca Valley, Chile

The grapes for Terranoble’s Reserve Sauvignon Blanc come from coolest coastal area of the Casablanca Valley, allowing for slow ripening. Here the soils are granitic with lots of quartz and low amounts of organic matter. This wine is straw yellow with greenish tones. Fruit aromas vary from tropical fruits to lime, grapefruit and subtle notes of garden herbs. On the palate, it has a fresh and balanced acidity, with lingering hints of citrus and green chili.
