Magistrate Reserve Napa Valley Chardonnay 2018:

Produced from premium fruit selected from a variety of top vineyard sites in Napa Valley, the 2018 Magistrate Reserve Napa Valley Chardonnay is a full-bodied wine that really delivers in the flavour department. A rich, golden colour in the glass, the bouquet unfolds with aromas of baked pear and apple, followed by tropical fruit and a lively hit of citrus. The palate is rich and broad with some buttery oak and a creamy texture on the finish. This a great value in Napa Chardonnay would make a fine accompaniment to cedar planked salmon from the grill or some pan seared scallops with a buttery sauce.

Artesa Estate Vineyard Los Carneros, Napa Valley Chardonnay 2018:

The grapes for the Estate Vineyard Chardonnay Carneros, Napa Valley are harvested from the highest altitude, north facing vineyard blocks near the edge of Mt. Veeder. The gravel soils allow the 20+ year old vines to produce intense and balanced grapes with great acidity. Harvest is always carried out at night after which the grapes are very gently whole cluster pressed to render only the purest juice. 70% of the is placed in French oak barrels (228L and 500L 30% new) and 30% in stainless steel, where it ferments at low temperatures with strictly native yeasts. This allows the unique terroir to shine through!

After primary fermentation, 50% of the wine underwent malolactic fermentation. The wine is then barrel aged for 9 months on the lees with frequent battonage to enhance texture and mouthfeel.

Rich and luscious with all kinds of tropical fruit/spice notes and a beautiful long, balanced finish. It will continue to drink well for several more years.
