Tasting Notes
Domaine Font de Courtedune:
We recently discovered the small production estate Domaine Font de Courtedune, and just in time! The estate has been getting very strong international reviews, and we are allocated limited amounts of their wines annually.
This is a mixed case of two classic styles of wine from the Southern Rhone Valley via a small and emerging winery.
6 bottle case: 3 bottles of each wine
Avg $49.95 btl; $299.70 cs
Chateauneuf du Pape 2020:
The backbone of this wine is derived from some very old, low yielding vines – many of which are 90+ years of age. The result in 2020 is a wonderfully vibrant wine, which has gorgeous clarity of fresh raspberry and floral, red cherry fruit. This is a full bodied, velvety mouthful, having excellent mid-palate power and a finish that is long, ripe and full of finesse (for drinking 2022-2030+).
Cotes du Rhone 2021:
A bright ruby colour with violet reflections, the bouquet beguiles with scents of cracked black pepper, plum, cassis and garrigue. The palate is lively and lush with dark fruit flavours and subtle spice notes ending with a beautiful harmony. This is a Côtes du Rhône wine perfectly suited to a wide variety of dishes, but particularly meat and vegetables hot from the grill.
