The 2023 Gaia 4-6H leaps from the glass with fruit forward aromas of strawberry, cherry and lime/tangerine accompanied by a touch of rose petal. On the palate, the wine shows lively acidity and freshness where the fruit note is joined by a mineral/saline element on the clean finish. Not just for summer anymore you will find rosé versatile at the table. This wine would make a lovely aperitif for holiday guests and will pair well with traditional Christmas hors d’oeuvres and main courses.
Why 4-6H? Always interested in providing a “full pallet” of wines for the enjoyment of their customers, Gaia has more recently turned its attention to rosé wines. Composed of Agiorgitiko grapes grown at their high-altitude estate in Nemea, they have chosen to name their rosé wines by the amount of skin contact the wines have undergone. For those not familiar with rosé wine production, the intensity of colour in a rosé wine is directly proportional to the time the clear grape juice is left in contact with the red skins of the grapes. The 4-6H wine we present today has had between 4 and 6 hours of skin contact to produce its lovely, pale pink hue.
