Domaine de la Bastide, located in Visan in the southern Rhône, is owned by Bernard and Nicole Boyer. Bernard worked for over 20 years as an agricultural engineer, and in 1989 he and Nicole founded their estate. The family lives in a fortified farmhouse built by the Templar knights in the middle ages! Today their son Vincent runs the estate with his wife Stephanie. They are in the process of converting to organic viticulture.
The Bastide Blanc is a blend of 45% Viognier, 40% Roussanne, and 15% Clairette grown in calcareous clay soils. All grapes are hand and mechanical harvest, fermented separately for 3 weeks in tank. 50% of the wine is aged briefly in oak, then blended with the tank wine just before bottling. The displays lively aromatics and rich mouthfeel with plenty of refreshment and flavors of flowers, ripe stone and tropical fruits and hints of spice.
Grilled shrimp, scallops, mild flavored fish
