Tasting Notes
Chateau Barrabaque Cuvée Antoine is a blend of 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from vines with an average age of 35 years old. The grapes are harvested by hand and there is a double sorting at the Chateau prior to destemming the grapes. The grapes undergo a period of cold maceration followed by temperature regulated fermentation in cement vat. The wine is then aged for 12 to 15 months in second and third fill barrels.
The nose is fruity and powerful revealing notes of cassis blackberry, violets and a touch of sweet spices. On the palate this wine expresses notes of blackberry jam, raspberry along with a touch of cassis, liquorice and toasted oak. Tannins are fine, elegant and slightly firm. Good length, great cellaring potential.
Food Pairings
Great with grilled red meats, richer stews or cheese.
