A dark regal red, the 2017 vintage opens up with the pure scents of chocolate, cassis and nutmeg. Notes of bar-b-que meat and a flash of hot chili flakes demand further attention. Entry on the palate is smooth, with fine tannins becoming grippy and expansive. Flavours of lush cooked plums mix with spiced chocolate. The texture of this wine is weighty, bold and rich. Tannins persist. Toasted wood balances hints of fresh pomace on the lingering finish.
Best served with all types of classic meat dishes, veal, pork, beef, lamb, duck, game, roast chicken, ribs, hamburgers, barbecue, roasted, braised, grilled dishes and stews.
Third Party Reviews
This wine is smooth, polished, and well-appointed. Its bold and deep aromas and flavors of cassis and oak stay tenderly on the palate. Pair it with a thick, well-marbled grilled ribeye. Score 92, Wilfred Wong, Wine.com, July 12, 2019
