Tasting Notes
Composed in a fresh and fruity style with no oak influence, the vines are planted in clay soils and are hand harvested about 2 weeks before their other parcels of Pinot Noir to emphasize the vibrant nature of the wine. This wine is all about bright fruit character with a bouquet that recalls the fragrance of ripe strawberries, red cherries, cranberries and spicy hints of cinnamon and pepper. The palate is medium bodied with abundant red fruit flavours supported by bright acidity and a earthy finish. While delicious now, its structure will allow for further development in the bottle with mid-term cellaring.
Food Pairings
Serve with wild salmon or any other fatty fish. If you love Italian food, then this wine is a great match with Italian pasta and pizza. For meat lovers, we suggest white meat such as chicken or pork.
Third Party Reviews
“The 2019 Pinot Noir Cartagena from Lo Abarca, San Antonio, is a ruby red in colour with aromas of spice, damp earth and whiff of blood, while in the mouth, it is smooth and silky, displaying mild tension and medium depth. An austere but satisfying wine.” – 91 Points Joaquin Hidalgo (Vinous June 2022)
