Tasting Notes

Vicoletto is a relatively new project from Cantine Rallo based in Marsala on the western side of Sicily. The Catarratto grapes are grown organically in sandy soils high up in the hills of Alcamo. After hand harvesting, grapes are softly pressed and 90% is transferred to tank without skins for fermentation, while 10% is fermented on skins for a total of 12 days. Both elements undergo natural fermentation with wild yeasts. The 10% skin contact wine is then blended in, and the resulting wine is bottled without stabilisation, filtration, fining or added sulfur.

The light orange colour of Vicoletto features only a slight haze due to the natural winemaking process. The generous bouquet opens up with aromas of grapefruit, orange, golden apple and woody herbs such as thyme and rosemary. The palate is balanced and citrusy with a lingering fresh
