Tasting Notes
Armilla is one of the smallest producing estates in all of Montalcino. With just a few hundred cases of the Rosso produced annually, this estate is true to our name as a small winemaker.
Maceration takes place in stainless steel tanks for 3 weeks followed by 18 months of aging in 25HL oak botte. A ruby colour with slight garnet hue leads to aromas of red berries, purple flower, leather and pipe tobacco. The taste is full and dry with grippy tannins and a lingering note of dried orange peel. Only 400 cases produced.
The 2020 vintage in Montalcino was characterized by weather that was warm and dry with cool nights. It produced wines with significant depth and texture that are eminently enjoyable upon release.
Food Pairings
Goes well with food especially bold cheese from Tuscany.
