La Togata

Elusively Montalcino:

La Togata is a small family-run winery, with vineyards in the south-west of Montalcino and wine cellars in Sant’ Angelo in Colle. The property is own and run by the three sisters of the Angel family along with their mother, Jeanneth. Together, they practice meticulous vineyard management and low intervention winemaking: every stage of the production, from the choice of natural products in the vineyards to the hand pruning and grape selection, is precisely managed. The harvested grapes are brought to a stone cellar that was recently renovated with modern wine making technology. The wines are then matured for different periods in either 80 Hl Slovenian oak barrels or French oak barriques, and further aged in their bottles for 12 months before release.

La Togata Jacopus Rosso Di Montalcino 2022

The 2020 vintage in Montalcino is being heralded as one that produced wines that are particularly well balanced and delicious on release. The 2020 “Jacopus” Rosso di Montalcino is a clear, ruby red colour. The ample bouquet shows aromas of red cherries and strawberries with hints of blood orange, Tuscan herbs and an earthy complexity. The rich and well structure palate displays soft flavours of purple fruits with good acidity and a long, solid aftertaste with well managed tannins
