During the Sixties, in the heart of Colli Orientali del Friuli, Min Zorzettig, a tenant farmer, started producing wine for his family. Min, with his sons Francesco, Giuseppe and Livio, decided to cultivate wines on a commercial scale. He purchased some small plots of land in Ronchi San Giuseppe near the family home in the village of Spessa di Cividale. During the Eighties, the estate flourished and the Zorzettig family had become so large that the brothers Francesco, Giuseppe and Livio decided each to start separate wineries. Livio established a 23 hectare winery in Ipplis. Following his sudden death some months later, his wife Gabriella decided to continue the family tradition with the passion and dedication inherited from her husband and the support of her young sons Massimo (14) and Marco (12). Once he finished school, a very young Massimo began to oversee both vineyard and cellar while Marco went to school. When Marco finished school he began working with Massimo and showed particular aptitude and interest in the care of vineyard. Today he is still in charge of the vineyards with a trusted team of employees. In 2000, the family, changed the name of the winery to "La Tunella", to avoid confusion with the many other Zorzettig wines in the area. The name "La Tunella" is a toponym that actually means a farmhouse and hill located near the cellar, between meadows and vineyards immersed in the soft landscape of the "Colli Orientali del Friuli". Azienda Agricola La Tunella's philosophy, which counts on a well-established young, close-working team is to continue, in both the vineyard and cellar without losing sight of the family's traditions guaranteeing a high quality product with its own personality.
