Domaine Pierre Andre

Domaine Pierre Andre is a family-owned estate in the village of Courthezon, (between Orange and Avignon) in the region of the Controlled Appellation Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The “terroir” is very diversified : smooth stones (quatzites), clay, sand, limestone. The climate is excellent for the vines : typically mediterranean with the well-known wind “the mistral” which keeps the weather clear and sunny, thus reducing rainfalls and fogs.

The estate totals 16 hectares in the appellation of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. It has been cultivated Organically since 1980 and Biodynamically since 1992. The vines are very old: some plots are over 130 years-old ! The average age is around 70 years-old.

Red Chateauneuf is made very traditionally, from 80% Grenache, with no destemming and 3 to 4 weeks of fermentation and maceration. The maturing takes place in concrete tanks and oak barrels between 18 to 20 months. The wines are not filtered, but are fined with organic egg whites.

White Chateauneuf is produced The white wine : after the pressing and a light racking of the must, the wine ferments out at a temperature of 19/20°C. It is fined with bentonite only and not filtered.
