Domaine la Fourmone

The Fourmont family was the founder of what started out as a farmhouse. The succession of heirs finally enabled the Combe family to take up the torch in 1910 and have done so for five generations.

La Fourmone draws its semantic roots from the word “Fromentum” : wheat; today’s wheat which was once cultivated on the grounds of the Domaine. Very quickly, the house turned away from its original destiny. The region, the climate and the land prompted people to cultivate vines in Vacqueyras. Since then, they have remained unfazed around the Estate.

The cultivation of wheat remains linked to the heritage of La Fourmone, which is why we have chosen its ear as the emblem of our house.

The latest iteration of the estate involved the introduction of Organic farming practices. Domaine la Fourmone has been producing AOP Vacqueyras and AOP Gigondas wines in Organic Farming since 2019. This method of agriculture is a collective awareness, that of maintaining the life of the soil without synthetic pesticides and without weedkillers because we are convinced by the balance and coherence of this farming system.

Conversion to Organic cultivation has been agronomic challenge, with all the risks that this entails: lower yields, significant investments over 8 years.
