Comptoir des Grenaches

The Domaine Comptoir des Grenache is the latest creation of Burgundian Bruno Lafon, owner of Domaine Magellan in the Languedoc. Lafon knows a thing or two about French wines, growing up making wines with his brother Dominique at the ultra-premium Domaine Comte Lafon Estate in Meursault. He moved to the Languedoc in 1998 to start his own winery. Since then, Lafon’s business has extended in a few directions. Most importantly, he works as a consultant and négociant assisting a myriad of small, local growers who struggle to modernize their production and get to market.

Using a select few of the local growers with whom he works, Lafon came up with the idea of Domaine Comptoir des Grenaches. The focus of the Domaine is to showcase Grenache that is exemplary and a reflection of the terroir and elegance of Provence and the South of France overall. With Lafon’s wines you have a chance to taste a product of small, family growers finished by a winemaker who values balance and elegance, rather than the style more common with big, blustery wines that often find their way on to retail shelves.
