Bodegas Bilbainas Vina Pomal Crianza 2020
Viña Pomal Crianza is the flagship wine of Bodegas Bilbaínas, one of Rioja’s oldest estates, and has now been produced for over 100 years. The winery had a bottling plant near London’s Charing Cross in the 1940’s, and Viña Pomal was reputed to be a favourite of Winston Churchill. The wine is ruby with violet hues, while the nose is intense, dominated by floral and fruity aromas (black fruit) with notes of liquorice, vanilla and toasted flavours. The palate is balanced, soft and fresh. Shows good structure and soft tannins.

Raimat Albarino 2022
Cultivated on a number of plots, this is one of Raimat’s more exciting wines; the varietal is rare in this part of Spain. The wine is pale yellow in color with greenish hues. Intense aromas of citrus, dried flowers and spices with an additional hint of sweet vanilla. Raimat Albarino was the first Albarino to be introduced to the market outside of D.O. Rias Baixas.

Raimat Rosada 2021
An intriguing blend of Tempranillo (55%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (45%). The name Abadia (Abbey in English) is in reference to the commitment and patience of monks who worked the land in the beginning. The grapes are purposely harvested at night, when temperatures are cooler to reduce the risk of oxidation. The grapes are de-stemmed and further cooled in tank. The juice used for this wine is strictly free run juice, prior to pressing. This serves to produce the freshest possible Rosada, with limited phenolic extraction. Bright pale pink leaning towards an onion skin colour. Supple aromas with elegant notes of strawberry, cherries, flowers and a hint of grapefruit. In the mouth the wine shows ripe, dry, cherry fruit and a touch of aniseed.
