This is Dowie Doole’s small-production and rarely pproduced Reserve wine made from select fruit and matured for 24 months in 100% French oak hogsheads, with 70% being new and 30% 1 year old. Intense deep purple, with a complex nose of dark fruits, leather, spices and dark chocolate. The full bodied palate is rich and generous and follows on from the bouquet with blackberry, plums, spices and dark chocolate. A complex wine with excellent tannin structure, length and weight. The 2012 vintage was low yielding (30% to 50% less than normal) with moderate temperatures. These conditions produced high quality grapes with intense and concentrated fruit characteristics.
Braised lamb shanks, whole beef fillet, hard cheeses, beef bourguignon.
