Owner Dominique Uny-Prieur considers this Bourgogne Rouge to be as good as many famous Village wines produced in the Côte d’Or at a fraction of the price and we agree. Made from 4/5 Meursault area and 1/5 Santenay area with clay and limestone soils, the age of the vines is 25+ years. Look for ripe red plums and black raspberries in the nose with great concentration of fruit, a supple mouthfeel, hints of earthiness and toasted cedar in the mouth. A gentle use of oak (only 30% of the cuvee is aged in wood) makes the wine silky and fresh. Serve with salmon, chicken, beef and lamb dishes, as well as fine cheeses.
