This is an Amarone of suppleness; it’s nice to see another producer depart from the ultra ripe, oaky approach taken with too many examples of Amarone these days. This is a traditional Amarone with brooding dark berry and raisin aromas with hints of cocoa, cardamom and violets. The palate is rich and full, with a very long finish. Cellar for 5 to 15 years.
Mature cow’s milk cheese offers the perfect match for this full bodied wine.
Third Party Reviews
Deep ruby black color with a brick rim. Dense aromas and flavors of chocolate raisins and nuts and delicate spice with tangy, dry-yet-fruity medium-to-full body and a long, concentrated finish with notes of cedar, dried cherry and forest floor. A fantastically flavorful and balanced Amarone. Score 96, www.tastings.com, March 2013
