On offer this week is the 2011 Jacopo Biondi Santi Braccale. 2014, Grechetto
Marche, Italy
Major Grape: Grechetto
Tasting Notes
A brilliant, pale yellow, with light green reflections. Fine and elegant aromas of white flowers and white peach. Fresh and balanced in the mouth with particular weight and a mouth watering finish.
Dowie Doole
2014, Chenin Blanc (LTO $2 OFF)
McLaren Vale, Australia
Major Grape: Chenin Blanc
Tasting Notes
Light straw with a vibrant green hue. The nose is fresh, with lively aromas of passionfruit, citrus, white flowers and guava. The aromas follow through onto the palate with a burst of delicate white fruit and citrus flavours. A lovely, long palate and a crisp, clean and zesty finish. The grapes are sourced solely from 80+ year-old vines on Drew Dowie and Lulu Lunn's Tintookie vineyard, which is situated on sandy soils at Blewitt Springs, located on the cooler slopes above McLaren Vale. 2014 was a milder vintage allowing the fruit to ripen slowly, achieving full flavour ripeness at lower baumé and retain excellent acidity. Yield was low with smaller than average crops, small berries and bunches. Fruit displayed lovely varietal character, ripe but with excellent acidity.
Chateau Saint Dominique
2011, Puisseguin Saint Emilion
Bordeaux, France
Major Grape: Merlot
Tasting Notes
This winery in the satellite appellation of St Emilion was recently purchased by the Rothschild family. The wine is showing a very deep ruby colour., while the nose is ripe and opulent, showing red fruits (strawberry, raspberry) pepper and scents of other spices. Altogether a complex wine that will drink well over the next 4 to 6 years.
