2013, Shiraz Grenache Mourvedre
McLaren Vale, Australia
Major Grape: Shiraz 75%
Tasting Notes
A blend of 80% Shiraz 10% Grenache and 10% Mourvedre. A portion of the wine was fermented on Roussanne lees to give additional silkiness and texture to the palate. Medium intensity purple with crimson hue. A ripe bouquet of black fruits, violets, graphite, pepper and dried herbs which flows on to the medium-full bodied spicy palate. Excellent structure displaying fine, chalky tannins and good acidity to complement a wide range of foods.
Morgan Winery
2012, Cotes du Crow’s
Monterey, USA
Major Grape: 55% Syrah
Tasting Notes
Cotes du Crow’s shows ripe blackberry and vanilla tinged Syrah fruit, with classic strawberry/rhubarb Grenache notes on the nose and palate. The wine is showing classic red wine structure, the softly tannic structure ensures that it is easily enjoyable upon release
Review
This estate's take on a Cotes du Rhone, the 2012 Cotes du Crow's (60% Grenache and 40% Syrah) offers plenty of black cherry, earth and underbrush-like qualities in its medium-bodied, delicious and quaffable profile. It's well made and will drink nicely for 2-3 years. The Wine Advocate, October 2014
